I’m Late for a

Very Important Date

📍Eibesbrunnergasse 14-16, 1120 Wien

In response to Youtopia, this mural explores the tension between urgency and becoming. Inspired by Alice in Wonderland, a young woman mid-transformation – laced into a corset and jupon, surrounded by fairy-tale details – embodies the fragile space between who we are and who we long to be. She holds a Safi vase, a recurring symbol in my work, carrying memory, emotion, and the invisible weight of heritage.

This mural is my “youtopia”: not a finished paradise, but a space of transformation, shaped by memory, care, and imagination. As she hurries toward an unknown “important date,” the figure reflects our own inner journeys – a reminder to dream, to evolve, and to carry the past gently into the future.

Fatima Ezzahra Khilad, a visual artist and muralist, graduated from the École Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Casablanca in 2019. Her work explores the nature of memory, examining how fragments of the past are transformed and preserved over time. Deeply inspired by childhood moments spent with her grandparents – mythical figures in her imagination – her art often centers around a recurring motif: the Safi vase. This object embodies the fleeting innocence and purity that linger as echoes in her mind.

Tima’s creations navigate the space between childhood and adulthood, depicting dreamlike, introspective feminine figures. These timeless, enigmatic silhouettes evoke a poetic search for meaning and a longing for the past.
