📍Arndtstraße 30, 1120 Wien

As Mariella Lehner’s current work focuses on environmental themes and this year’s topic is Utopia, they chose to depict flocks of starlings. These migratory birds are becoming increasingly rare in Austria, with their numbers declining across Europe. Known for their spectacular formation flights, starlings are highly social and ensure that resources are shared within the entire flock—behaviors they envision for their own utopian vision of a global community.

With parts of Arndtstraße currently being greened and as they now live in the area, their utopia also imagines a greener Meidling, full of trees and nesting places for starlings.
