Festival 2026.

In equality

döbling, Vienna 1190
18. may - 06. June 2026

In 2026, the Calle Libre Festival is dedicated to the theme “IN EQUALITY” — a multifaceted exploration of social, cultural, economic, gender-based, and socio-political inequalities.

The title is intentionally layered with meaning. It points to inequality as a lived global reality, while simultaneously evoking “in equality” — the fundamental equality that connects us as human beings. This duality forms the conceptual core of the festival: a tension between division and unity, injustice and dignity, exclusion and belonging.

As part of the festival, four walls in the district will be transformed through live mural interventions by national and international artists, each engaging artistically with this year’s theme.

As part of Vienna Pride, the Calle Libre Festival invites you to the Block Party at Gleis 19, opening urban space for encounters, art, and shared visions.

In collaboration with the Vienna collective “A PARTY CALLED JACK”, a music program will accompany the district’s wall artworks, providing a live soundtrack to the festival and serving as an official partner event of Vienna Pride.

On-site, visitors can participate in workshops and join guided tours through the district. Attendees will also have the unique opportunity to witness the creation of Austria’s largest street art mural on the APA Tower live.

Workshops.

Registrations will open end of April.

In cooperation with various street artists, the festival offers a series of hands-on workshops for young people, school classes, and local residents. Participants gain insight into the background and techniques of street art, learning directly from professional artists and working together on wall pieces using spray paint.

Each workshop encourages participants to create individual motifs that engage with the festival theme of transformation, translating personal perspectives into collective visual statements.
