ATVO (Mexico) | Enemy Within
Mexican artist ATVO draws inspiration from Moctezuma’s feathered headdress, a sacred object of the Aztec empire that is still displayed far from its origins in Vienna’s Weltmuseum. His mural explores the tension between cultural memory and displacement, weaving together portraits of rulers, echoes of Tenochtitlan, and the iconic crown as a symbol of both power and loss. Enemy Within reflects on how colonization and inner division shaped history and how those fractures continue to resonate today. The work becomes a meditation on identity, unity, and the responsibility to protect and return cultural heritage.
