microscopic life under the magnifier – Street Art meets biodiversity!

The once grey wall of the Biology building at Uni Wien has been transformed into a vibrant mural through a unique collaboration between students from FMS3 Maiselgasse, street artists Manuel Skirl & Ruin , and Calle Libre.

📍 University of Vienna, Biology Building 1030

Students explored the nearby urban wilderness together with biologists, collected samples, and examined them under the microscope. Inspired by the intricate structures of tiny organisms, they created original drawings – which later served as the foundation for the wall design.
Artists Manuel Skirl & Ruin brought these miniature worlds to life in large-scale format, turning scientific curiosity into public art.

A project that celebrates the power of collaboration, creativity, and education in public space.
