As part of a bilateral cultural cooperation with the Austrian Embassy, Calle Libre realized an interdisciplinary urban art project in Kyiv, Ukraine, in 2019. The initiative aimed to strengthen the artistic dialogue between Austria and Ukraine by connecting artists, curators, cultural institutions, and local audiences through contemporary urban art. Hosted at the creative hub IZONE, the program featured the presentation of CINCO – Five Years of Urban Art in Vienna, a publication documenting five years of Calle Libre Festival. In collaboration with LEAP Art Print, a curated exhibition of limited-edition screen prints by Austrian urban artists was presented, accompanied by an artist talk featuring Calle Libre curator Jakob Kattner and Austrian artist Sebastian Schager (Artis.love) in cooperation with Jan Arnold Gallery.

Extending beyond the exhibition space, the project activated Kyiv’s public realm through the creation of two stencil murals along the Dnipro river promenade. The artworks depict classical sculptures reinterpreted with contemporary pop-cultural elements, creating a visual dialogue between historical heritage and modern urban culture. The project fostered transnational exchange and established new connections between Austrian and Ukrainian cultural institutions, artists, curators, and audiences. By combining public art, exhibitions, publications, and discourse, the initiative highlighted the role of urban art as a catalyst for intercultural collaboration and creative exchange across Europe.
