Luogo Comune for Calle Libre 2023 at Ottakringer Brewery, Vienna

Established in 2014, Calle Libre has emerged as a prominent street art festival in Europe. It serves as an exclusive platform for artists hailing from diverse corners of the globe to manifest their artistic visions within public spaces. Calle Libre contributes to the enhancement of Vienna's urban landscape through the creation of wall paintings and graffiti installations.

The online exhibitions featured on Google Arts & Culture provide an immersive opportunity to delve into the realm of street art and trace the festival's journey from its inception. Each exhibition is dedicated to a specific year of the festival, showcasing a curated selection of artworks complemented by comprehensive insights into the backgrounds of the street artists and the narratives that inspire their creations.

This digital compendium extends an invitation to a global audience, enabling them to explore an array of artworks and be captivated by the festival's vibrant creative atmosphere. The online exhibitions, offering a window into Vienna's street art culture, will be accessible commencing on July 19th.

Since 2011, Google Arts & Culture has been collaborating with over 2,000 cultural institutions from 80 countries. The online platform and smartphone app (available on Android & iOS) enable users to explore the cultural treasures of the world with just one click. Additionally, cultural organizations receive modern tools and technologies, such as gigapixel photography or virtual reality, to share their diverse heritage online with a wide audience. Currently, there are 29 cultural institutions represented from Austria.
